Why Your Website Is Not Getting Enquiries (and How to Fix It)

If your website gets visitors but the phone stays quiet, the problem is almost always one of five things. Here they are, in the order we see them most.

1. It is not obvious what you do

Within five seconds of landing, a visitor should know what you do, who you do it for and where. If your homepage opens with a vague slogan, people leave. Say it plainly: "We build extensions in Kent" beats "Excellence in construction solutions" every time.

2. There is no clear next step

Every page needs one obvious action: call, book, get a quote. If the contact option is buried in a menu or a footer, most people will never find it. One clear button, repeated, wins.

3. It is slow or broken on mobile

Most of your visitors are on a phone, often on mobile data. If your site takes five seconds to load or the text needs pinching and zooming, they are gone before they read a word. Test your own site on your phone, on 4G, right now.

4. There is no proof

People buy from businesses they trust. Real photos of real work, genuine reviews and specific examples beat stock photos and adjectives. If your site could belong to any company in your industry, it is not building trust.

5. Nobody can find it

A site with no search presence only serves people who already know you. Proper page titles, fast loading, and content that answers what customers actually search for are how new people find you. That is a large part of what we build into every website we design.

The quick test

Hand your phone to someone who does not know your business. Give them ten seconds on your homepage, then ask: what do we do, and how would you contact us? If they cannot answer both, you have found your problem. Want a second pair of eyes? Book a call and we will give you an honest read on your site, no charge.
