How long does a website redesign actually take?

Seven days or six weeks? What really determines a website redesign timeline, what slows projects down, and how to keep yours moving.

How long does a website redesign actually take?

A professional website redesign takes anywhere from 7 days to 6 weeks with us, depending on complexity. A focused site with content ready can be live in a week; a larger, more involved build takes up to six. Here is where the time actually goes, and what you can do to keep it tight.

The realistic breakdown

  • Discovery and scope (1 to 2 days). What the site must achieve, who it is for, what stays and what goes. Skipping this is how projects go wrong.
  • Design (3 days to 2 weeks). Concepts, then full page designs, with your feedback at each stage.
  • Build (2 days to 3 weeks). Development, content loading, and the systems behind the scenes.
  • Testing and launch (1 to 2 days). Every device, every browser, every form. Then DNS, redirects and go-live.

What makes projects overrun

It is almost never the build. It is feedback that takes two weeks instead of two days, content that does not exist yet, and scope that grows mid-project. The single best thing you can do for your timeline is appoint one decision-maker and commit to fast, honest feedback.

Estimate your timeline

Realistic timeline, start to launch

~7 days

Assumes quick feedback at each review stage. Slow sign-off is the number one cause of overrun, not the build itself.

Can it be done faster?

Yes, if you are decisive. A focused five-to-ten page site with content ready can launch in 7 days. What you should never compress is discovery and testing; that is where the quality comes from. If your current site is losing you enquiries while you wait, a phased launch (core pages first, rest after) is often the smart move.
